Four hours before the gates were set to open, the first families started arriving at the Mont Alto Fire Department's Carnival Complex Grounds. The rain poured off and on through the early morning, but it did not deter the line of people who had gathered for some extra help through the free event, Project Big Love.
Project Big Love is the brainchild of Shon Duty, a Waynesboro businessman and also runs the nonprofit Kaimon's Call, and his wife Tammy. Volunteers helped kids pick out backpacks, get a hot meal, play some games, get a free haircut, as well as find a new pair of shoes and leave with some groceries.
A prayer tent was set up as well, with volunteers and representatives from local churches to talk and offer any support.Jessica Shatzer, Waynesboro, arrived at around 7 a.m. to primarily get school supplies for her children, aged 12, 11 and 6 years old."I need the extra boost," she said.
The crowd was already winding around some parked cars by that time."I'm glad we got here when we did," Shatzer said, "There are so many people here."Yvette Valentine, a volunteer at the event and member of Great Commission Deliverance Ministries in Waynesboro was working at the gate and watched the crowd grow. She said she has done community outreach events before but "never for something this big."
"They [Shon and Tammy] wanted to give back," Denise Bnura, media relations lead said. "They own some buisnesses in Waynesboro and wanted to give back."The number of families that showed up on Saturday was more then they had expected."The need is probably much greater than imagined," Bonura said.
Linda Altizer was head volunteer on Shoe Crew and was helping children find shoes.Altizer said a highlight of her day was watching a child be "fascinated" with a pair of light-up shoes."They pointed and said, 'I want that one. I don't care if it's in my size.'" she said.Volunteers at the tent were also washing the feet of the children they were finding shoes for.
"I am so impressed with numbers of volunteers and for these people to be able to humble themselves and wash someone's feet," Altizer said. "This shows God's love."Jeana Edwards, Chambersburg, was getting her son Corvin, 4, ready for his first year of school. He had his eyes set on a pair of shoes with Batman on them.Edwards, a single parent, said that the event was invaluable.
"We could use a little help," Edwards said.RaeAnn Yates, Waynesboro was also looking for a new pair of shoes for her daughter, Emily, 8.Welcome to Michael Kors Classic Tote Outlet online now.RaeAnn said that at the moment, money was tight and that Project Big Love could not have come at a better time."My husband and I aren't working right now," she said, "and this is just good timing."
Idani Davila, a volunteer from Great Commiones Deliverance Mission in Waynesboro, was happy to see so many different churches working together for the event."It's been a long time coming, getting churches together," said Davila."We can all be the church. The church of Franklin County."
Duty said that the event was "above and beyond" what he believed it would be."This is simply amazing," Duty said about the amount of people who had shown up.He said around 11 a.m. that he expected from 3,000-4,000 people to come through, as well as around 500 volunteers who had signed up for various parts of the day.Duty said he was inspired to start the event after being involved with some other outreaches and his own experiences growing up."I remember going back to school in tattered sneakers," Duty said. "God has been good to us and our buisnesses. We want to focus our giving to giving back."

Something happened lately that makes Dick Nielsen smile. The latest trends and best prices on Michael Kors Bags 2013. Compare the two pictures of him shown here and try to figure what makes the difference. If you need help, hang with me.
Dick Nielsen brought himself and his name to Gaston County in 1954. He came with a handful of other top company executives from Minnesota to build and put into operation a new industrial plant near Bessemer City. The company: Lithium Corp. of America. It was big stuff. They opened the plant in record time, got it running and it is still in operation.
Dick and his wife, Audrey, settled nicely into the local scene, saw their family of two sons and a daughter grow up and move away.Welcome to Michael Kors Classic Tote Outlet online now. Eventually, Audrey retired from the Gaston County Mental Health Clinic and he, after 48 years with Lithium, became a full-time resident in his home hobby workshop.
I remember the days when Dick rode his motorcycle to work. Saturday mornings, however, was when he would purposely head his bike out of his driveway and just ride.
He sometimes would come by our house and offer obliging rides around the neighborhood. Our twins were maybe 8 or 9 by then. Talk about “cool.” Those short jaunts were treasures.
Today, Dick and Audrey occupy a cottage down the street and around the corner here at Covenant Village. They might have slowed their pace somewhat, but they move on, undaunted.
But what is it that makes Dick Nielsen smile?
His new uppers, of course. He had been having many problems with those uppers. Finally, the dentist told him: “You have a mouthful of cavities. Either we will have to drill them all, or extract them all.”
Dick went home and pondered. He consulted his wife. And … he chose to have them pulled. It was on April 11, this year, when the teeth came out. There were times when he felt like crying.Shop the latest bottega handbag from top designers at anmison. And maybe he did. But he survived, though his smile likely was shadowed. For a couple of days, he had little nourishment, a lot of anesthesia. He remained in Covenant’s heath care for a while, put up with a soft diet for “a long time,” and whimpered now and then for four months.
Eventually, he tried a temporary plate, did well with it for three months and then got the “real plate.”He says that there might have to be an adjustment or two when he tries chewing “crunchy and chewy.”So, what about the two pictures shown here? What’s the deal?
My reputation as a shoe-shine boy is fairly solid. I admit to being an expert. I learned early as the “Sultan of Shine” back when I was shining shoes in my brother’s barber shop in my hometown, Faith, near Salisbury. So, it was natural for Dick to tell me one day that his shoes had seen other shoes that shined and now were jealous. So, perceiving a problem, I volunteered my service.
That was when the first picture was made. The second picture was made shortly after I saw Dick Nielsen smiling again. That’s the big difference in the two pictures shown here. You got the answer; so, give yourself a smile.
What was occasionally joked about between player and coach became much more serious this year when UNC assistant Trisha Stafford-Odom departed, leaving a vacancy on Hatchell’s staff. Latta, who left as the Tar Heels’ all-time leading scorer and the 2006 National Player of the Year, was a natural choice.
“As a professional in the WNBA and overseas,” said Hatchell,Up to 40% Off bottega purses, shop farfetch today!‎ “she has only expanded her knowledge of the game and I think she will be a great asset as both a coach and a recruiter.”
“It’s a humbling experience and I’m just gonna learn from her, sit there and learn,” said Latta, who hasn’t retired from playing and will return to the Mystics next season.
Latta exudes confidence on the hardwood, but she feels some nerves ahead of her first season as a coach. She admitted to thinking on occasion “oh my God, I’m really going to be a coach there,” but plans to take the bits and pieces she gleaned from different mentors during her playing career, especially Hatchell, to shape her own style.
Latta should have no problem relating to a generation of Tar Heels who have grown up watching her crossover dribble. Blackwell thinks Latta will be an outstanding recruiter, partly because of her contagious magnetism, and partly because of her name recognition.

Sixteen years ago, when the music legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti died at a Lagos hospital on August 2, 1997, the question on the lips of art commentators was,The latest trends and best prices on Michael Kors Bags 2013. “Who will fill Fela’s shoes?” The search for the feet went typically to the immediate music household of Fela. This search became a huge debate as many took sides with either of his sons, Femi and Seun. The news of Seun’s leadership of the Egypt 80 band was not a surprise to many followers of Afrobeat music, who thought Seun had been groomed to lead the band in his father’s demise. This is coupled with the fact that Femi has his band,Find the Michael Kors New Arrival you will want to use for-ever! The Positive Force, to run. Other strong members of the Egypt 80 Band such as Dede Mabiaku and Baba Ani were under the spotlight as well. In all, the answer to the question was sought in the wrong places.
Fela,Find the Latest Michael Kors Kingsbury Here. Shop Today! the Abami Eda, occupies a very enormous position not just in the music sphere but in the popular culture of his people. While writing this, it was difficult to use “was” when Fela really “is”. One can say that the Fela influence is felt even more at death which occurred shortly before a democratic government was established in Nigeria and people were no longer entertaining the fear that mimicking Fela in fashion, music and political orientation could be deemed criminal or subversive by the state. Not that it did during Fela’s time, but Fela is a symbol of revolution with fear. He was a man persecuted by the state because his philosophy was regarded as anti-government. Some of his songs with revolutionary themes were not aired on the radio or television. Most of his works were released before the advent of privately-owned broadcast stations and as such, the government, who was paying the piper, naturally called the tune.
It took such selfless spirit to continue to perform his art. Fela had so much popularity in his time yet he was not a face to be seen on commercials. His persona is larger than life and no one dared to think of Fela as his key to selling his products or services. Fela’s “enemies” were growing simultaneously with the growing anger he felt towards the way his people were being ruled. When Fela perceived that the government would not listen to him, he took a swipe at the governed in many songs including, “Sorrow, Tears and Blood” where he sang, “We fear for the tin we no see / we fear for the air around us/ we fear to fight for freedom/ we fear to fight for liberty/ we fear to fight for justice…”. The remarkable attribute of all his lyrics was that they are so apt, as though they have just been composed in the light of present situation in the polity. Fela, as some would describe him was like a prophet who had foreseen that his country lay helplessly in the hands of those who had selfish motives. That was Fela’s position.
The media celebrated Fela in his life and at death. He was a man whose opinion counted irrespective of the reaction it begets. His songs became the anthem of student union leaders and till date, his songs live in the heart of students who stand against oppression. At the fuel subsidy removal protest in Nigeria in January 2012, Fela’s songs were chorused by a generation, many of whom were born long after Fela had lived. Fela had such impact that it is indeed very unrealistic to expect that a replica of him is anywhere around.
The thought of filling Fela’s shoes should not be passed off quickly as if one is only seeking to find someone who can fit his role perfectly. Remember when you fit a shoe, especially one that you like, it may not necessarily be a perfect size.Shop the latest Michael Kors Jet Set Bags on the world's largest fashion site. But to fit it, you insert a pair of shoe filler or even some other crude items like tissue paper or cotton wool. The point is to wear it to fit. Sometimes, you get a cobbler to trim the shoe to size and then wear it.welcome to michaels kors handbags sale,Free shipping‎! What lesson do we learn from this shoe exercise? Fela’s shoes are not even being tried let alone fitted to size. Shortly after his death, some artistes, who turned out to be one-hit wonders, arose and swiftly stole his trail to make some popularity. Time tested their ingenuity and authenticity and they failed for the most parts. Others learnt their lessons and left the Fela mimicry game so as not to incur the anger of Fela’s fans many of whom were still licking the wounds of his untimely death.

Exhibitors welcome the acknowledgment of their Fair Trade and sustainability efforts. 1: You are the new Miss Ireland- has it sunk in yet?
Honestly, I am still processing and digesting the news as being the new Miss Ireland 2013 so it definitely hasn’t 100% sunk in yet. It probably wont sink in fully until I actually get on the plane to fly to Indonesia for Miss World. But I had a day off this week to do normal things like go to Tesco and I've found myself having particular moments where I'm just smiling to myself and reflecting on what an achievement it is.
2: What has the past week been like since you scooped the crown?
The last week has been totally crazy, the first two days I spent most of my time organising what I’m going to do for Miss World which was so surreal. Then I had my first ever photo shoot on Wednesday. The shoot was for RSVP magazine and it was everything I expected a photo shoot to be like. There beautiful glamorous dresses in the backdrop of the Morrison Hotel. I had so much fun and will never forget it as my first shoot. I cant wait to see the results. There are numerous diversified high heels at christian louboutin shoes for sale. I also had my official Miss Ireland 2013 shot wearing the crown with Evan Doherty and attended the restaurant Brasserie 7 ‘s opening finishing off with some yummy food. So far I have had the time of my life and just cant wait for what lies ahead.
3: What will the next few weeks involve now in preparation for Miss World in Indonesia?
I will definitely be preparing for every part of Miss World. For the talent section I plan to either sing or dance, whatever will work best for me on the night. I also plan to increase my fitness regime to prepare for the sports challenge in Miss World. I not much of a gym bunny as I much rather go for a run in the fresh air along the beach. I’m really looking forward to starting my work with Autism Action Ireland.
4: What are your top 3 beauty buys?
I like to keep it really simple and go back to basics with a lot of my beauty buys.Find a great selection of christian louboutin boots deals ! Click on any of the links below. I use Johnston’s baby oil fresh out of the shower to moisturise,All kinds of replica designer handbags in our online store sells at Wholesale price, welcome to buy top quality replica handbags in our online store!!! I use Vaseline of my lips because I often suffer from dry lips depending on the weather and I swear by heated rollers to give a nice bounce in my hair.
5: Have you any designer labels in your wardrobe?
I have a bit of a weakness for designer handbags. One of the first designer handbags I bought was a Gucci bag when I was in college! God only knows how I afforded it?! I adored it so much I brought it with me on every night out for a year…even Halloween! Now it only comes out on special occasions. My latest obsession is my new cream Celine bag. Its huge so I can fit the kitchen sink in it! I also am an UGG fan. I really only wear them in the winter on lazy days but I have five pairs and my baby pinks ones are definitely my favourite. I literally cannot leave the house without wearing a watch. I feel naked without one! I got a beautiful Marc Coblen watch for winning Miss Ireland and it came with different coloured straps. I will definitely be wearing it every day and I’m looking forward to matching straps with different outfits. The watch has a large rose gold face which is very on trend at the moment.
6: What are your favourite high street stores?
I work in Abercrombie and Fitch as an in-store model and I really like their range of clothes for everyday wear.Save on Christian Louboutin Pump! All the Sales, All in One Place. Just jeans and cardigans are really comfortable and stylish. I also love Topshop and Zara and have been buying off Asos for years especially for more dressy pieces.
7: Do you follow a diet and an exercise regime?
I'm actually really lucky because I have a high metabolism and that does a lot of the work for me. But it doesn’t mean I neglect the way I eat or look after myself. I really try and eat healthily and I love fruit especially pineapple so that helps. But I definitely don’t feel guilty if I eat pizza or pasta because I love Italian food. But my true weakness is chocolate.
8: Aside from modelling and Miss Ireland what are your other ambitions in life?
There are lots of things I want to do within my life. I would love to work within this industry and Miss Ireland is the best platform for that. I have previously worked in youth reach programs and adult education which I thoroughly enjoyed and would love to work in this area again on another level. I wish to travel extensively as I have a huge interest in other countries and cultures and would love to experience all the world has to offer. But I wish to never stop moving and I truly hope that within my life I will always have the passion to move and learn and travel. I hope to still have the desire to achieve and to try new things and to always challenge myself by learning something new and exciting throughout my life. 9: Who do you admire?
I really admire Adi Roche not just because she is from my hometown of Clonmel but because of the extensive work she has done for peace and humanitarian aid. And of course she is founder the Chernobyl Children’s Project, providing aid to the children of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. I think she is a wonderful and has made a phenomenal difference to so many lives.

I have been running for 27 years. No wonder I’m so tired.
Empirical studies suggest that women in their 50s are 10 times more likely to suffer from fatigue than their male counterparts. OK, I completely made that up, but my point is: I’m tired.
Not all the time, though. During my peak hours of operation (4:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.), I’m energetic, creative and productive. I do a combo of running/walking for an hour every morning, and by the time I start my workday at 8:30 a.m., I’ve done a load of laundry, straightened up the house, and chased my cat, Olive, for 10 minutes. At the office, I crank out the work until midafternoon, when I start … to … slow … down.
A recent routine blood test revealed that I am vitamin D deficient. (And when I say “routine blood test,” I mean I sat there panting like a nervous puppy and tried to think of pleasant things, such as doughnuts, or the end of the Kardashian reign.Find a great selection of christian louboutin boots deals ! Click on any of the links below.) My nice physician assistant, Ashley, who is approximately 12 years old and who is definitely not vitamin D deficient, emailed me with the results of my blood test.
My vitamin D level is 7.8; a normal range is 30-70 nano-somethings per milli-whatevers. (I am considering medical school.) Ashley prescribed 12 weekly doses of vitamin D and told me to take supplements as well. I’ll have a follow-up blood test in several months to see if things have improved.
This news sent me into a frenzy of mad Googling. Vitamin D deficiency is common in women of a certain age, and by “women of a certain age” I mean 53, which is the new 43, but which feels more like the new 73, because I am so tired.Save on Christian Louboutin Pump! All the Sales, All in One Place. Further Googling revealed that a vitamin D deficiency can cause fatigue, muscle pain, osteoporosis, and an aversion to any reference that includes the word “Bieber.”
After years of avoiding the sun, I’ve discovered that I should catch some rays now and then in order to boost my vitamin D level. To keep my bones healthy, I also need to keep running (weight-bearing exercise makes my bones and me happy) and eat lots of vitamin D-rich foods (cod liver oil doesn’t make anyone happy, so I’ll have the salmon, thankyouverymuch). Vitamin D is also found in butter, which I plan on applying liberally and often.
I should probably stop Googling the words “vitamin D deficiency” and visiting strange websites in which people with names like Suzette4000 tell long, boring, vitamin D-deficient stories and dispense bad advice. That might help.
What I really need, though,There are numerous diversified high heels at christian louboutin shoes for sale. is a nap.

A new breed of animal at the Virginia Zoo has an amazing story to tell. It begins along the shores of Africa where the animals start out as flip-flops.Save on Christian Louboutin Pump! All the Sales, All in One Place.
A Kenyan company called Ocean Sole got creative and started a unique recycling effort that involves recovering flip-flops that wash up along the beaches and cause a disaster for the ecosystem.
"About 400 people work the waterways and beaches to collect the items, and, then, there's about 100 artisans that actually carve and create the animals," said Greg Bockheim, Executive Director at Virginia Zoo.
The flip-flops get cleaned, cut, and compressed, and then shaped into colorful animals. What was a hazard for sea life now creates jobs and sustainability.Find a great selection of christian louboutin boots deals ! Click on any of the links below.
"It's absolutely a remarkable conservation, water preservation, wildlife cleanup effort," Bockheim told 13News Now.
He discovered the company while he was traveling in Africa and decided to order the animals for the gift shop at the zoo. There are numerous diversified high heels at christian louboutin shoes for sale. Proceeds will help fund the new animal wellness campus.
"It's an amazing new site that will open in the zoo next spring, but it was a $4-million-dollar construction project," Bockheim explained. "We're in the tail end raising just like the last 5% of that 4 million dollars."
Bockheim added people at the zoo have talked with Ocean Sole about a project that would involve people in Hampton Roads bringing their flip-flops to the zoo. Staff members would mail the shoes to the studio where a marquee animal for the zoo could be created then used for further fundraising.
Three words young Orange resident Will Parish used to describe his experience walking 96 kilometres along the Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea earlier this month.
Mr Parish said the Kokoda Track, the scene of one of Australia’s poignant World War II memories, was an eye-opening experience and one he rated among his best achievements.
“The whole experience was very rewarding. I was amazed to see what the soldiers had to carry along the trail. We carried 15 kilograms on a backpack and it was exhausting - I could only imagine how difficult it would have been for them,” he said.
“I’m very glad I got the opportunity to experience it. It’s right up there as one of my best accomplishments and it’s something I’ll never forget.”
The opportunity to participate in the Kokoda walk came about after he was encouraged to participate as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Award, a program which identifies the state’s young leaders.
Award organisers recognised Mr Parish for his leadership qualities and asked him to be a mentor for 20 young indigenous people who took on the track as part of the Halo Foundation.
“They [Duke of Edinburgh organisers] were impressed with my leadership skills and asked me to participate as a mentor for the Halo Foundation, which gives disadvantaged indigenous kids the chance to turn their life around,” he said.
When asked to pinpoint a highlight of the walk, Mr Parish said that was difficult because each day was better than the next.
“Each day threw up a lot of different challenges on the walk. They were all different,” he said.Shop cheap christian louboutin shoes, pumps, wedding shoes, sandals with low price in our discount christian louboutin sandals Store online.
“But the thing that gave me the most satisfaction was seeing all the local kids in the small villages. The smiles on their faces when you said hello and gave them gifts, it really touched us all.”
It took Mr Parish and his team more than nine days to complete the 96 kilometre single-file foot thoroughfare trek. And just to prove how hard it was, five people from his team dropped out after the first day.
“I had been training really hard for the past year preparing me for the walk but it was even harder than I expected,” he said.
“Every time you looked up there was another hill, followed by another hill. It really was difficult, but thanks to my personal trainer Del Byron I was well prepared and got there in the end.”
Mr Parish said he enjoyed the experience so much, he’d love to do it again one day. Until then, he said he’d treasure the memories and lifelong friends made during the experience. Apple is experimenting with larger screens for the iPad and the iPhone, according to a new report in the Wall Street Journal.
How big, exactly? Well,Shop hotmkbags for the latest fashion trends in Michael Kors Shoulder Bags for ladies. 13-inches in the case of the prototype iPad, and "larger than 4 inches" in the case of the prototype iPhone handsets.
For comparison's sake, the display on the current model iPad measures 9.7 inches from top right corner to bottom left. (The iPad Mini screen is smaller, at 7.9 inches.) Meanwhile, the iPhone 5, which was released last fall, is equipped with a 4-inch display – up from the 3.5 inch screen on the previous model iPhone.
RECOMMENDED: 40 iPhone tips and tricks everyone should know
The usual rumor mill caveats apply here: Apple isn't commenting on the Journal report, and the newspaper is sourcing the whole thing only to anonymous "officials at the company's suppliers." Still, it makes sense. Here's why: Despite Steve Job's contention that the 3.5-inch display was the "perfect" size, smart phone screens are getting larger, from Apple's own devices to the popular Samsung Galaxy S3 and S4 lines (to say nothing of "phablets").
It makes sense that Apple would want to test out a plus-sized smart phone, even if the prototype never makes it to production.
As for the larger iPad, we doubt that Apple will get rid of the 9.7-inch model. But just like the Cupertino company offered a smaller version of its tablet in the form of the iPad Mini (tagline: "every inch an iPad"), it's possible that it could eventually offer a larger version, too.
Of course, it's worth noting that a 13-inch display would make for a pretty large tablet – one that would be harder to fit into handbags and backpacks. Consider the fact that when Toshiba unveiled a 13-inch tablet last year, Mashable called the device "monstrous."

Yes, you can lose weight and get into shape while wearing the shoes, but you MUST also make healthy eating choices and stick to an exercise regimen at the same time!
I always say, “just be smart about it.” I applaud anyone who is getting out there and moving. Just beware that if the claim seems too good to be true, it probably is. There is really nothing better than losing the extra weight to increase the health of your feet, so just keep at it! Anything worth doing takes a little time.
When buying a new pair of shoes, shop in the later part of the day when you feet are most swollen. Always be sure to get measured for your correct shoe size; you might be surprised at the difference between what size you think you are and what size you actually are.
Be sure to look for a shoe that has heel and arch support. You need a combo of a lightweight shoe and a shoe with a mostly inflexible sole.
Get rid of your old shoes! Old shoes break down and can lose their support. You will start feeling aches and pains in your back, neck and legs when wearing old shoes.
If you exercise casually, you should switch out shoes every year. If you work out every day, then you should get new tennis shoes every six months. Runners should exchange their shoes based on mileage.
We hope to see you out and about this week, exercising in the correct shoes and enjoying the Bluegrass summer.

The latest swimwear trends have a wild side this season, with animal and tropical foliage prints seen on the runways at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2014 at the Raleigh Hotel in Miami Beach. Orange made a splash at the Cia.Maritima (now CM) and Nanette Lepore shows. And the must-have accessary this season is a bold necklace, from the oversized rosary-style crosses seen at Poko Pano to the gold-covered medal necklaces at Dolores Cortes.Buy the Michael Kors Skorpios and luxury leather purses at hotmkbags.
Newcomer Maaji made its swim week debut, as did Lepore and Betsey Johnson. And Mara Hoffman was named the Mercedes-Benz Presents Designer this season, recognizing her work using quality materials, unique style and innovative design.
Swim week, featuring nearly three dozen designers, started on Thursday and ran through Monday.

Agua Bendita showed a blue monokini in a bold elephant print with a contrasting pattern that lined the top. Kaftans and fringed-crop tops were adorned with animal prints, including a lion face with matching backpack.
The one-piece with tribal pattern was a standout, with the image of binoculars in colorful beadwork appearing as if hanging over the model's neck.
POKO PANO
Designer Paola Robba pays homage to her homeland with designs inspired by myths,Find the Michael Kors New Arrival you will want to use for-ever! legends and beliefs of Brazil.
In soft pastels and warm tones of burnt orange and lilac, Robba included animal prints such as penguins and jaguars in her 40-plus collection for Poko Pano. Gold-plated hardware appeared on bikini tops and bottoms as well as handmade, eco-friendly beads — with oversized crosses, resembling a rosary.
Orange and red were prevalent in this collection, including a red polka-dot triangle top with printed bottom.
"I love strong colours because Brazil is a colorful place," Robba said.
DOLORES CORTES
Spanish designer Dolores Cortes, the only European to showcase at swim week, was inspired by jungles around the world and punk icons. The two came together seamlessly through bold graphics, lush tropical plant and animal prints fused with gold spikes and studs, fringe and 3D floral details.
Bright colours, including orange and yellow, were combined with more subdued tones.Shop for Michael Kors Satchel in many colors and styles at hotmkbags.
A favourite punk look on the runway was a set of laser-cut suits in black — from bikinis to monokinis — adorned with gold studs paired with a spiked bracelet. Another crowd favourite was the spiked gold-plated bikini top with tropical print bottom.
The necklaces were also showstoppers. Some pieces were gold-covered metal with enamel to add some colour. Many appeared to mimic flowers and other tropical features from the jungle.
"We worked together so it could have the same inspiration as the collection," Cortes said in Spanish of her collaboration with the jewelry designer.
TORY BURCH
Inspired by the French painter Edouard Manet, Tory Burch focused on mixing different textures and prints for her swimwear collection that was presented at the Shore Club hotel.
Painterly florals were paired with embellished handbags, embroidered linen with raffia and colour-blocked maillots with beaded straw hats that were a hit with fashion bloggers.
Burch said in an email that the trends of the season included: "The evolution of swim and surf shirts, from sleeveless to long-sleeved and in between." Her floral-printed rash guards with a blue and red-patterned backdrop are a beach favourite, as well as the tropical-printed coverups and ruffled bikini bottoms.
BETSEY JOHNSON
Only Betsey Johnson can get away with pairing pink wigs and Twizzlers with bikinis. For her first time showing during swim week, Johnson wanted to make sure the models were "on overdrive" during the presentation at The Betsy, a hotel named after Betsy Ross who is credited with making the first American flag. (Fun fact: Johnson said she was named after Ross, although her mother spelled it differently.)
"It's a show. It's not serious, but it's supposed to inspire," she said of her collection, which featured drawings and artwork of women's faces. "I want to get swimwear to continue the pretty," she added, stopping to give a model her own white petticoat that she tucked under the model's red sparkle belt.

I have worn Asics and nothing but for decades and know - just know - that while my stride and stamina slow pair after pair of these runners have kept me on track.
Actually, while I believe it, I don't know any such thing. According to Richards, studies of what running shoes do to - and for - the people who wear them over time are all but non-existent.
Surely not? For years, advertising campaigns promised me "the longer I run, the smaller problems become" (Adidas); assured me "runs end, running doesn't" (Nike); and convinced me "running releases more than sweat" (Asics). So their shoes must be built right for runners. Yes? No? In fact, the answer is maybe, because slogans are not performance promises.
A quick check of research databases reveals an enormous literature on the impact on runners of days and decades of foot fall on all sorts of surfaces. But often lab-based biomechanical research only takes science so far.
The best way to understand how different styles of running shoes perform when the polyurethane pounds the pavement is to get people to lace up their joggers and, well, hit the road.
Says Richards: "There are hundreds of articles on how footwear affects impact forces and joint angles, but no one asks, 'Do we know what these tests mean?'."
Especially for those of us who have believed for decades that cushioning in our shoes keeps us going. "Unfortunately, the overall effect on injury rates of running in a shoe with an elevated heel remains untested in clinical trials," Richards says. "Shoes are being bought and used as clinical therapeutic devices on the presumption they prevent injuries and help performance, but there is no data to back this up."
So the Newcastle doctor and running research student at the city's university intends to find out with a big experiment, probably the largest and longest clinical trial of running shoes anywhere in the world.Find a great selection of christian louboutin boots deals ! Click on any of the links below. He is recruiting 2000 runners who will be able to buy at-cost (40 per cent below retail) a pair of running shoes, from a range of 12, including the fashionable "five-fingers" style said to be near the barefoot experience.
Participants will wear them for a year, keeping a diary of their experiences of running a minimum 10km a week, plus competing in organised races. A big survey, for sure. Still, it seems unlikely it is close to unique, at least until you look for research on shoes to suit each foot.
A US army project in 2009 found only one study of the role of shoes in reducing injuries and it noted "major methodological problems". So the soldiers conducted their own clinical study using male and female recruits. They concluded that while old runners (the shoes, not the people who wear them) increase injury risk, that's about it. Selecting shoes based on static, weight-bearing impact on soles does not necessarily prevent injury.
Another clinical trial of runners in British Columbia is yet to report. There is also a University of Arizona study under way on the psychological benefits for depressed people of running in conventional trainers compared with "barefoot" runners. Nike has also tested conventional runners against glove-style minimalist shoes in 14-week field trials.
Perhaps the most useful study confirms Richards's suspicions. Danish sports scientist Rasmus Oestergaard Nielsen enlisted 927 novice runners (beginners' feet are a blank slate) to test if there is a correlation between foot postures in generic shoes and injury. He found there isn't, indicating suggestions you need shoes that suit your natural style are plain wrong.
As one US commentator concluded on the basis of Nielsen's work, shoes that are comfortable to run in might be better for you than ones based on an analysis of foot shape and the way you roll.
So is that it for the science of shoes? Not really. "Over the last five years people have twigged that shoes are untested medical devices," Richards says. "As a clinician it is embarrassing that you have to guess what is important in terms of shoes and running technique. To a large extent we need to keep our mouths shut and not advise runners what to do."
Which is what the manufacturers do. I do not remember why I first decided Asics were the right shoes for my running style (which overstates it) all those years ago. It certainly wasn't because I swallowed the company's scientific claims -- because they are too smart to make any. There are numerous diversified high heels at christian louboutin shoes for sale. Today, manufacturers tell you what they design shoes to do and what feet type they suit, but that's it.
Thus Asics says its GT2000 is designed "to encourage a more efficient gait, guiding your foot from heel strike to toe-off, while also giving support to the midfoot". It's the sort of biomechanical claim Asics obviously believes it can stand up, but not a word about how many injury-free kilometres it will deliver.
For a start,There are numerous diversified high heels at christian louboutin shoes for sale. promises attract regulators. Last year,Shop cheap christian louboutin shoes, pumps, wedding shoes, sandals with low price in our discount christian louboutin sandals Store online. US brand Skechers made claims it could not support for "toning" shoes (not runners) that supposedly strengthened muscles. US consumer groups and regulators successfully sued. And Vibram, maker of "five fingers" minimal runners, has defended in court claims that barefoot running, or as near as dammit to it, has health benefits.
But most manufacturers don't say squat about shoe performance over time because there is no published research. "If the companies are doing peer-reviewed clinical trials, they don't tell us," Richards says. It's a gap he intends to fill. So here I am, swapping my elderly Asics for a pair of posh shoes in a one-jogger, pre-trial test of what Richards intends to do with hundreds of runners over many months and a lot more kilometres.
He lends me a pair of Hoka One One Bondis and off we go. I should love them, after all, "Hoka One One's maximally cushioned midsoles offers superior protection, comfort and propulsion". And so forth and so on.The latest trends and best prices on Michael Kors Bags 2013.
Problem is, I don't like them. Perhaps it is the go-fast stripes. Maybe it's the toggles that tighten the laces, implying I'm too dumb to tie my shoes and run, let alone chew gum. But, above all, they feel spongy, as if I am bouncing along on the surface, not connecting with the path.
On balance, and bugger which way my foot strikes, I am happy in my old Asics -- and when they fall apart, which will not be long, I will stay loyal to the brand. At least until somebody can show me that some shoes are better for me than others.
And I'm all ears to learn what Richards discovers on the scientific running road less travelled.

Rolla resident Janice Hartinger recently traveled to Zambia in Africa as part of a team of volunteers and Samaritan’s Purse staff members selected from across the United States to deliver shoe boxes full of gifts to African children.
The Operation Christmas Child Special Distribution Trip was a first-time event planned to allow year-round volunteers an opportunity to experience the wonder of delivering shoe box gifts.
“It was emotional and impacting to see the children receive and open the very boxes we receive and process through the Rolla Collection Center each year,” said Hartinger. “It totally validated why I believe in this project so much.”
Their first distribution was in the village of Chingola. More than 200 children anxiously awaited their arrival in a remote church which had no roof or windows, only walls. The poverty and sickness there was profound, Hartinger noted.
“These children were among the most subdued of all the children we visited. Imagine 200 children sitting quietly on a dirt floor unsure of why we had come to visit their
“We found taking individual pictures of each child brought them great joy and built trust. Many of the children had never seen their own image before. The pictures opened doors and aided us in distributing the boxes,” said Hartinger.
Another stop included a visit to the Children’s Hospital Arthur Division in Ndola. Many adults and children in Zambia suffer from AIDS/HIV.
Hartinger’s team had the opportunity to demonstrate the love of God to the more than 400 children who go there each day for treatment, nutritional supplements and more.
At the end of each day, many return to relatives, foster homes or adoptive homes, while others return to parentless homes where siblings raise siblings. More than 450 shoe box gifts were distributed at this site.
One of the shoe box recipients at the hospital came up to a volunteer with tears streaming down her cheeks. The little girl wanted to thank the volunteer for her gift. The volunteer told her to thank God. The little girl said she already had,Find a great selection of Michael Kors Satchel Bags 2013 New Arrival at hotmkbags! but wanted to thank the volunteer too.
The child told the volunteer how she had been disciplined each day because she had no socks to wear with her school uniform. She opened up her box to show the reason for her tears. Inside were three pairs of white socks.
The little girl was thankful she would no longer be disciplined for something she could not help. Her prayers had been answered.
The first shoe box distributions in Zambia began in 1999. Since that time 1,564,015 shoe box gifts have been distributed there.
This year 242,432 boxes have been given out. Hartinger’s team delivered 3,600 boxes to churches, schools, a hospital and an orphanage during the recent visit to 20 different sites during the period of May 17-25, 2013.

Samaritan’s Purse recently celebrated the delivery of their 100 millionth shoe box gift. Operation Christmas Child has been an official project of Samaritan’s Purse since 1993.

Operation Christmas Child projects can be done at schools, clubs, churches, civic organizations or as an individual. Brochures and packing information are available to assist participants.
Shoe boxes may be dropped off at the Rolla Collection Center located in First Baptist Church, 801 N. Cedar St., Rolla, during National Collection Week, which is Nov. 18-25 this year. The hours of operation will be published closer to National Collection Week.
