A self-taught graphic artist for more than eight years, Darville has used her gift of artistry and design to alpha channel Bahamian colloquialisms onto T-shirts as a fun and fashionable way of paying homage to our cultural heritage.

"I have always loved graphic artistry, design and fashion hence I researched graphic designing and taught myself how to utilize what I have learned to develop my own graphic T-shirt line.

"The name of my line is BT-Script which stands for Bahamian Talks Scripted and what I have done is create my very own fonts and I manipulate each one to make different artistic images.

"My line stands apart from others simply because of my love for art in all its forms, my strong, creative work ethic, the fact that I create each individual piece from scratch and because nothing I do can ever be recreated or replicated," Darville said.

This year's 40th Independence Anniversary really proved to be a source of inspiration for Darville and she used her love of curves, silhouettes and the conch shell to create a bold new look for this year's commemorative graphic tees.

"This year's Independence anniversary T-shirts really highlight the unique color pattern of the Bahamian flag with its rich texture and bold aquamarine, gold and black colors.

"I personally am inspired by the flag's color scheme year round and while many Bahamians have used the Bahamas' 40th Independence Anniversary to rake in a few bucks by providing T-shirts that celebrate the country's latest milestone only for that particular year or day, I have supplied stylistas and fashionistas with a design they can wear all year through.

"I have also included shirts for children from size 2T – 10/12 this year simply because as a parent myself I have noticed our kids are often neglected when it comes finding patriotic shirts for them during this time.

"For women I have sleeveless, capped sleeved and scoped necked shirts as well as a single shouldered shirt, all of which range in size from small to 4XL.

"Men can look forward to shirts that feature either a crew or V-neck collared shirt in sizes of small to 4XL and both kids' and adults' shirts come in black, gold, aqua and white and there are some shirts that come in neon yellow, which adds an exclusive fashion flare," she revealed.

Careful to not only focus on the graphic design of her T-shirt line, Darville also ensured she catered to the needs of her full-figured clients, who may be self-conscious of their weight but still want to put a fashionable foot forward.

She has also taken great care in seeing that her shirts are made of only the finest quality, 100 percent cotton fabric.
