Elyssa Cooper said dog owners and lovers of Maine have plenty of reasons to enjoy Junebug's Beach House, the new business she has opened with her partner, Tricia Zerhusen.
Junebug's opened at Caswell Farm on Route 1 in June, featuring coastal-inspired gifts for people,Buy brand-name how to make bike seat for everyday discount prices. pets and the home.
For Fido, there are gourmet treats that look good enough for humans to enjoy.
"Having pet gifts and being so into dogs as we are, we wanted to be pet-friendly.can give you a new china school bag factory look. The dogs become part of your regular customers. The owners like to try things on and see how they look before they buy it," Cooper said.
The store name is borrowed from Cooper and Zerhusen's rescue dog.
"Her name is June but we call her Junebug," Cooper said. "She's had a hard life so we thought she deserved to have a store named after her."
With over a decade's experience in doggie retail, including owning "Crazy Cats and Cool Dogs" in Ogunquit and North Carolina, Cooper and Zerhusen, who live in Wells,Buy bicycle saddles, Handbags and Purse. said combining their love for their dogs and the coast of Maine at their new venture was a natural fit.
"We wanted a location that was year-round and would cater to the local population and visitors. We really decided early that we wanted to expand on the pet gift store,New Trolley cooler bag disappear in big orange boxes." Cooper said.
Adding gifts including candles, handwoven rugs, beach-inspired driftwood signs and an assortment of handbags and purses, Cooper said the coastal theme isn't always literal. "It doesn't mean it literally has to have a starfish on it. It's more about items with the feeling of being on the coast especially with the color and the style of things."
In addition to selling domestically made items that are predominantly from small or independent businesses, Cooper and Zerhusen are anxious to get involved with the local community.
"Coming back to the coast of Maine and getting reconnected with the people has been great," Cooper said. "The people have been so friendly and welcoming."
One way Cooper and Zerhusen hope to be back involved with the York community is by hosting "Love Four Paws," a fundraiser for Lucky Pup Rescue of Kennebunk. The event, scheduled for noon to 4 p.like bike saddle and violations of pharmaceutical patents.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, will feature a silent auction, a dog-themed art show and other to-be-determined activities.
With their own history of adopting rescue dogs, Cooper said this is a cause they feel strongly about and hope to make a recurring event at Junebug's.
"Being a local business, we want to be able to give back," Cooper said. "We want to help the community and help the dogs. What better could you ask for?"
Zerhusen added that after five years in North Carolina, she was ready to return home to Maine.
"I love being here in Maine. I like meeting the new people who come in," she said. "I just love the coast and being able to walk up and see the ocean every day."
