First off I would like to thank everyone who made the Fall Festival such a big success. I don’t have an exact head count; however I do know that 230 pumpkins where picked at the pumpkin patch. If you missed it, you missed a great day. This is an event that I feel will become a Lakehurst tradition.

On Oct. 26, Michele Dimeo and Sabrina Wisniewski–Brooks will host the “Haunted Gathering” dance at the Community Center on Center Street from 6 to 9 p.m. The dance is open to students in grades 6 through 8th. Permission slips should have come home via school by now, so check their back packs. There will be a DJ for dancing, games and prizes and a costume contest with prizes for the most original, scariest and the funniest. There will also be a special area for photos.

The Borough will hold the annual Halloween Parade on Oct. 27. The parade line up begins at the Post Office and proceeds down Union Avenue to the lake, where there will be a costume contest. If you would like to be in the parade, set up will start at 10:45 a.m. at the Post Office. I hope to see you there.

Judging of the home Halloween displays will be Oct. 29 to 31. So make sure to have your house lit up and who knows, you might be one of the lucky winners. And as always, trick or treating will be held on Halloween. Have fun and be careful.

There are a number of events coming in November. Saturday, Nov. 3, the Rabies Clinic will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Community Center.

Of course Tuesday, Nov. 6 is Election Day so get out there and vote.

Nov. 10, the Lakehurst First Aid will hold its silent action. This fun event will be held at the Community Center from 4 to 11 p.m. Great prizes are going to be available.

Veterans Day Services will be celebrated Nov. 11, 11 a.m. at Lake Horicon. Veteran’s Day is designated to celebrate and honor the military service of men and women past and present.
